Almost brought home the silverware
Sunday (9/12/25) saw the Indoor Team play in the
Plate Final. Despite a great effort from the team we
lost a very competitive close game. We scored 109
off our 12 overs and Asian Sports hit the winning
run of the last ball of the game |

Clubhouse and Nets refurbishments -
Jan to May 2025
We
have been refurbishing the clubhouse and practice
nets
since the start of the year. Over the coming weeks we hope to
complete all our targets. Thanks to support from Gloucestershire
Cricket Foundation with help obtaining an ECB Grant to fund
majority of the projects |

CGF League
AGM report - Wednesday 27 November 2024
26 of our 53 teams were represented on
the evening.
The sole agenda item was a discussion and vote on
the proposal to merge the CGFL into the proposed
Gloucester County League.
Votes in favour by email 18, Votes in favour at the
meeting 22, Total 40
Votes against by email 1, votes against at the
meeting 2, total 3
The proposal was therefore passed by a substantial
majority.
The committee will stay in place for the time being
until the GCL committee is formed |

November
2024 - Big changes to admin and league structure for 2025
The
GCCL committee has an exciting update on the structure of grassroots
cricket in Gloucestershire. After months of working closely with all
three of the District Leagues, the Glos Cricket Foundation and the
GCCL committee, we have come to an agreement to bring all of the
cricket in Gloucestershire under one roof.

September
2024 - Juniors in adult fixture. Indoor league entered with new
captain
Last fixture of
the season saw players from the youth teams in the starting XI.
Great to see a total of 6 youth players making up the team and only
just losing out in a close game. Alfie Burt and George Raven
already regulars for the club. George Morris, Will Cowen and Harvey
Talbot have also made some league appearances this season.
Youngest of the bunch Rowan Fraser made his debut in a senior
fixture and got their best batter out.
Entered the Indoor League again with a new captain. Jake Bidmead
who takes over from Brad Jaques is hoping the team continues to
challenge for honours like the last few seasons. |

July 2024 - After
a lot of hard work led by Ian the club have be awarded Clubmark
Accreditation
by the ECB
The Clubmark
accreditation is a testament to the efforts and commitment of the
Club and its volunteers in creating a safe, family-friendly, and
well-organized environment for the local community to participate in
the game of cricket. The scheme also helps to promote the sport and
attract more people to participate, which is vital for the future of
the game.The Clubmark accreditation provides reassurance to parents
that their young people are participating in a safe and fulfilling
environment. The accreditation process requires evidence of the
club's development plan, constitution, committee structure and
meetings, accounts and finances, and compliance with the ECB Safe
Hands Policy and Anti-Discrimination Code, among others. The
rigorous process helps ensure that clubs are meeting high standards
and are committed to continuous improvement, which is essential for
the long-term sustainability of the sport. The clubs achievement of
the ECB Clubmark status is a significant accomplishment and reflects
the dedication and commitment of the club and its volunteers in
promoting the game and providing a safe and welcoming environment
for the community. It is also a testament to the ECB's efforts to
support and encourage clubs to meet high standards and ensure the
future of the game. |

April 2024 - New
Clock, Weather Vane & Tour
After many years and many temporary clocks we have finally a proper
pavilion clock in place. The original clock served us well for many
years but resources to replace it properly was never there. The
widow of Keith Miller who umpired at the club for many seasons
donated a significant sum to the club in memory Keith after she
heard about the club was looking to get a new clock. With the help
of some other donations the cost was virtually cover. Clock is
designed for outdoor use, mains operated and self adjusting. So no
clambering up ladders for awhile.
Big thanks to Alfie's Dad for renovating the weather van. The
weather was donated many years ago in memory of Arthur Partridge,
hence the initials. Arthur was a frugal bowler and opened the never
every Saturday when he returned from cricket
First venture onto the cricket field for 2024 was on our Devon Tour.
Saturday we visited Cornwood and won a closely fought game against
our much younger opponents. Match winner Andy Ward fell agonising 2
short of his century. Sunday's game was called of with weather
making the wicket unplayable. Group of 12 with 3 tour debutants
enjoyed the delights of Plymouth eateries and hostelries and a good
time was had by all. |

February 2024 - Message
from our Chairman
Birdlip & Brimpsfield Cricket Club will start a new season in April
2024 (weather permitting!)
Our adult league season (2 Saturday teams) starts Saturday 3rd May
through until September. We also play Wednesday midweek T20 league
cricket and occasional Sunday friendlies.Last season saw six youth
players 15-17 years, come through into adult cricket. The club will
always welcome new players to the club. If anyone is
interested in joining our pre-season indoor nets (Cheltenham Sports
Centre Saturday/ Sunday mornings) please contact me.
Our bar is always open during matches through the summer and anyone
is welcome.

Under 15's/ Under 13's hard ball Fridays 5.30pm - 6.30pm starts Friday

January 2024 - Warren
Knock
Sad to hear the passing of Warren, a past Chairman of the
club.
Warren ran the junior section for many years taking many a young
player through to adult cricket. Often seen supporting the teams at
the weekend and on the odd occasion grabbing the scorebook. Also a
big contributor to fund raising especially the Chairman's XI games
over the years.
